Course Description

Through this course, participants will be able to learn about common vision impairments that patient sustain following a concussion and treatment options in order to address their visual impairments.

 

Course Objectives

  • Review of what a concussion is
  •  Review of common visual deficits seen following a concussion
  • Review of evaluative tools used to assess visual impairments
  • Treatment of common vision impairments
  • The importance of the VOR system
  • Neurocognitive treatment in sports 

 

Brief Biography of Instructor

Emma earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2017 and doctorate of physical therapy in 2021 from Rutgers University. Emma was born and raised in France and is quadrilingual in French, Spanish, English and Armenian. She is skilled in the treatment of a myriad of orthopedic conditions and sport-related injuries. Emma's focus is on promoting, healing and general wellness in patients through personalized, evidence-based treatments and creating an enjoyable and productive therapy session during each visit. She strives to understand the impact an injury or impairment has on someone's life and their family. Over the past 2 years her focus has been on sport specific injuries and the rehabilitations of athletes. After sustaining a concussion herself in 2022 she became more involved in the treatment of this condition. 

 

In order to recieve Certificate of Attendance, you must register and attend the livestream.Course approved for 1 CCU through the Nevada Board of PT.

 

Monthly Seminars for PTs, PTAs, and Students to be held every 3rd Wednesday. Free to members, $35 to non-members. Programs may be recorded.
