Third Wed Education: Blueprint for Ethical Physical Therapy Practice, Jennifer Nash, PT, DPT, NCS
This course fulfills the Nevada ethics continuing education requirement (1 hour) for PT and PTA license renewal.
This presentation reviews the ethical standards that guide physical therapy practice, with a focus on applying the APTA Code of Ethics and Core Values in real-world clinical and professional situations. Emphasis is placed on clinical decision-making, professional responsibility, and navigating ethical challenges in contemporary practice, including clinical, academic, and regulatory environments.
Course Objectives
- Identify the nine Ethical Commitments that form the foundation of the physical therapy profession.
- Differentiate between enforceable Standards of Conduct and aspirational guidance within the Code of Ethics
- Apply the Code of Ethics to clinical or professional scenarios to guide appropriate decision-making.
Speaker Bio
Jennifer Nash, PT, DPT, is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a recognized leader in neurologic rehabilitation and fall prevention. She currently serves as President of APTA Nevada and Chair of the Balance and Falls Special Interest Group within the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy. Dr. Nash is a past member of the Nevada Physical Therapy Board and has contributed to national initiatives through service on Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) committees. She has a strong track record of building collaborative programs across academic, clinical, and community settings, with a focus on improving outcomes for older adults and individuals with neurologic conditions.
